CASA Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Libbi Conway
“It takes one trusted adult to have a profound effect on a child’s life.”
Libbi Conway heard about the CASA program many years prior to actually inquiring. Once she inquired, she said, “I knew this was meaningful work that was much needed in our community and I wanted to be part of making a difference.” It did not take Libbi too much time to get started; she completed her CASA volunteer training in the fall of 2020. Libbi was sworn in on December 10, 2020, and accepted her first case the very next day.
As a professional, Libbi is a District Business Manager for a pharmaceutical company. She is also a wife and a mother. When asked what are some of her interests or hobbies she replied, “I enjoy traveling. Right now, my favorite is traveling to see my youngest [child] play soccer at the collegiate level in Florida, but I also enjoy exploring new places.” She also enjoys reading and cooking.
Libbi shares with us some of her favorite things about being a CASA. She has learned “that it is not always the big things that have the most impact. It is the small things done with consistency that can move mountains. Simply showing up, listening, playing a game or calling when a child has accomplished something they have been working towards can make a tremendous difference in how they see the world.” Libbi went on to say, “a CASA is in a unique position to be just that person for the children entrusted to them.”
Although, Libbi is only on her first case, she has made such an impact already! She was asked why she continues to volunteer with CASA, to which she replied, “this organization makes such a huge difference for children in need and I find that this work energizes me in a way I didn’t know I was missing in my life.” She further commented by saying, “to see a child learn to trust, succeed, and thrive is profoundly meaningful.”
She added, “I am grateful to all the CASA expert staff that are always there to support, answer questions, and be a sounding board.”
