CASA Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Joellen KulczykEmily Hoak
“My love of children and desire to help make a child’s life safer and happier drives my passion.”
Joellen Kulczyk has been a CASA for two years and is a Registered Nurse with MNS. In her spare time she enjoys reading, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Joellen expressed that her mother believed in the rewards of volunteering. She said, “When my mother could no longer volunteer, I promised her I would carry the torch. My love of children and desire to help make a child’s life safer and happier drives my passion.”
When asked about her favorite part of being a CASA volunteer, Joellen said, “I love my interactions with my CASA kids. Their trust in me is amazing!”
Joellen reflected on an inspiring memory from her volunteering and how this keeps her motivated. She said, “The intense feeling I received after helping my 1st CASA kid out of an untenable situation and then advocating for her to return to her mother was beyond belief.”
Thank you, Joellen!
In honor of Rose Butler who was a CASA volunteer, and who further supported the mission of CASA as a staff member supervising and mentoring many of our volunteers, we are featuring one CASA volunteer each month who is making a difference in the lives of children in Porter County.
