CASA Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Christina Klespies

Christina Klespies is the Senior Director of Human Resources at the University of Chicago and an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Ivy Tech in Valparaiso. When she isn’t working or volunteering, Christina likes to travel to Mexico and the Caribbean each year, and she also enjoys exploring National Parks. Christina will celebrate her one -year anniversary of being a CASA in the fall! Soon after her swearing in, she received her first case, and she has been going strong ever since.

For her, the best part of being a CASA is definitely the children. She says, “I love making a connection with the children and giving them a stable, safe space to ‘be a kid’ during our visits.” Christina was drawn to CASA to help children, and she stays so she can continue to help them. She finds it rewarding, and she feels like she is “making a difference, albeit a small one, in both the children’s and the parents’ lives.” The presence of a CASA can make a big difference in a family’s life, and Christina’s hard work has made a big impact on the families she has served.

Christina enjoys the CASA team and has learned a lot in her last year as a CASA.  She credits the training she received along with the support from CASA and her supervisor in particular that makes her want to continue to learn more and take on new cases. Being a CASA has been a very positive journey in volunteering for her, and she “highly recommends” the program to anyone who wants to help serve children and families in Porter County. Because of volunteers like Christina, Porter County CASA continues to grow and thrive in order to assist families in the community.

Thank you for everything you do, Christina!
