CASA Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Jennifer Arzola
Jennifer Arzola became a part of the CASA program in the fall of 2022. When she isn’t actively fulfilling her CASA role, she is a project manager for a technology company where she works to ensure her clients’ goals are met by thinking out of the box. She enjoys using her communication skills in different ways and also appreciates the flexibility of remote work. When she isn’t working, she loves to read and write, and she is part of two book clubs and a women’s writing group. One of her passions is writing, and she writes for GreatNewsLife. She also finds satisfaction in running or biking four days a week and knitting when she isn’t being active. Her favorite activity, though, is spending time with her children. Together, they walk the dog, see movies, and tackle art projects.
Jennifer used to be in the education field before becoming a project manager, and that is part of what brought her to CASA. Although she loves education, being a leader in that field was wearing her down, but she wanted to continue to somehow support children. While she was looking into different volunteer opportunities, she came across CASA. She knew about CASA from her days in education, but it wasn’t until speaking to others that she decided being a volunteer CASA was for her.
Working to better the community is part of what drew Jennifer to CASA. She says, “Being a CASA allows you to put yourself aside and listen.” It’s only after all of the listening that a CASA can strongly advocate for the child/ren being served. Jennifer has learned a lot about the court system and DCS while being a CASA along with all of the steps it takes to keep children safe and protected.
She feels that the work of a CASA is important to the child/ren being supported as well as the CASA for spending time helping others. For Jennifer, it’s also important that her own children see that volunteerism and activism are essential in society. Here at Porter County CASA, we are elated to have Jennifer as part of our team!
