CASA Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Allison Lind

Allison Lind joined the Porter County CASA Program in March of 2023. When Allison isn’t supporting children as a CASA, she loves to travel and explore new places. She and her husband have visited nine of the National Parks, and she hopes to visit them all someday! They have family and friends all over the United States, and they also visit everyone they can.

Outside of being a CASA, Allison teaches second grade at Central Elementary in Valparaiso. She learned about CASA and what its volunteers do a few years ago, and she was moved and impressed by the program’s purpose. Being in a classroom has given her a unique perspective into what children can go through at home and how those adversities can create struggles in the classroom. Allison is committed to supporting children both through her position in education and her volunteer status as a CASA.

Unsurprisingly, Allison’s favorite thing about being a CASA is advocating for the children who need her. She is grateful for the CASA program for guiding her through tasks that may otherwise seem daunting. While the CASAs are doing everything possible to encourage and lift up kids, the CASA staff is on hand to support CASAs who have questions or concerns.

Despite her busy schedule, Allison is committed to the CASA program. She says, “I can’t imagine knowing about the needs of children in the community and not continuing to help in whatever way I can.” Throughout the process, Allison feels that being a CASA has deepened her patience and empathy as well as reinforced the need for prompt documentation after talking to families, service providers, or interactions in court. We are elated to have Allison as part of our CASA program and so grateful for her advocacy for children!
